MyBioSource\'s Histone H3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).
Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000
Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the H3 n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The H3 n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #47551065) (NCBI Accession #NP_999709.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. This structure consists of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a nucleosome, an octamer composed of pairs of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). The chromatin fiber is further compacted through the interaction of a linker histone, H1, with the DNA between the nucleosomes to form higher order chromatin structures. The gene for this protein is intronless and encodes a member of the histone H3 family. Transcripts from the gene lack polyA tails; instead, they contain a palindromic termination element. This gene is found in the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6p22-p21.3.
Immunogen: Synthetic phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser28 of human H3 (KLH). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing H3 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as H3 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
