Our knowledge of the role of proteins in cellular processes is continually evolving. Most proteins, including VZV are typically involved in one or more signaling pathways or biological processes. Professionally manufactured recombinant proteins are increasingly becoming essential and commonplace tools for elucidating new knowledge about the role of proteins in both health and disease.
Source Note: Strain VZ-10
Protein Type: Native
Biological Significance: Varicella Zoster virus (VZV) belongs to the herpesvirus family. VZV is a large virus with a diameter of about 180 - 200 nm; its dense core is 100 nm in diameter and is covered by an icosahedral capsid composed of 162 tubular capsomers, in turn covered by a lipid bilayer envelope. The core contains linear double-stranded DNA with a molecular weight of about 108 daltons. VZV infections induces the production of specific proteins and glycoproteins by the host cell. Biohazard Information: This reagent has been inactivated using gamma radiation and should contain no infectious material. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to biological reagents should be employed when handling this product.
