Our knowledge of the role of proteins in cellular processes is continually evolving. Most proteins, including Fibrinogen are typically involved in one or more signaling pathways or biological processes. Professionally manufactured recombinant proteins are increasingly becoming essential and commonplace tools for elucidating new knowledge about the role of proteins in both health and disease.
Source Note: Human plasma
Protein Type: Native
Biological Significance: Fibrinogen (factor I) is a soluble plasma glycoprotein, synthesised by the liver, that is converted by thrombin into fibrin during blood coagulation. This is achieved through processes in the coagulation cascade that activate the zymogen prothrombin to the serine protease thrombin, which is responsible for converting fibrinogen into fibrin.
Bioactivity: 100% Clottable. Biohazard Information: Raw materials tested negative against HIV1/2, HCV and HbsAg. Donors are screened for CJD.
