The Streptavidin n/a (Catalog #MBS537863) is a Protein produced from Streptomyces avidinii and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. MyBioSource\'s Streptavidin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Flow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF).
ELISA: 1:10,000-1:50,000
FC: 1:500-1:2,500
IF: 1:1,000-1:5,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Streptavidin n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The Streptavidin n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #21340185) (NCBI Accession #AAM49066.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Our knowledge of the role of proteins in cellular processes is continually evolving. Most proteins, including Streptavidin are typically involved in one or more signaling pathways or biological processes. Professionally manufactured recombinant proteins are increasingly becoming essential and commonplace tools for elucidating new knowledge about the role of proteins in both health and disease.

Streptavidin n/a

Protein Type: Binding Protein
Biological Significance: Streptavidin is a 52,800 dalton tetrameric protein purified from the bacterium Streptomyces avidinii. It has an extraordinarily high affinity for biotin (also known as vitamin B7); the dissociation constant (kDa) of the biotin-streptavidin complex is on the order of ˜10-14 mol/L, making it one of the strongest non-covalent interactions known in nature. It is used extensively in molecular biology and bionanotechnology as, in addition to the high affinity, biotin-binding is resistant to extremes of pH, temperature, organic solvents, denaturants, detergents and proteolytic enzymes. Biohazard Information: This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
Tag/Conjugate: CY5.5.
