Intended Use The MBS SHBG ELISA is an enzyme immunoassay for the determination of SHBG in se-rum and heparin plasma. For Research Use Only – Not for Use in Diagnostic Procedures
Principle of the Test The.. SHBG ELISA Kit is a solid phase enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) based on the sandwich principle. The microtiter wells are coated with a monoclonal [mouse] antibody directed towards an unique anti-genic site of the SHBG molecule. An aliquot of sample containing endogenous SHBG is incubated in the coated well. After a washing step, enzyme conjugate is added, which is a monoclonal anti-SHBG antibody conjugated with horseradish peroxidase. After incubation the unbound conjugate is washed off. The amount of bound peroxidase is proportional to the concentration of SHBG in the sample. Having added the substrate solution, the intensity of colour developed is proportional to the concentra-tion of SHBG in the sample.
Assay Type: Sandwich
Sensitivity: The analytical sensitivity of the ELISA was calculated by adding 2 standard deviations to the mean of 20 replicate analyses of the Zero Standard (S0) and was found to be 0.77 nmol/L. SHBG or ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays) Kits in general, are a valuable research tool for a myriad of applications in a range of scientific settings. Currently, three major types of ELISA formats are used by researchers: sandwich, competitive and indirect. Most commercially available ELISA Kits are sandwich or competitive. Commercially available ELISA Kits contain wells that have been pre-coated with the capture antibody. Please refer to the product manual for the ELISA format of your specific kit. SHBG also interacts with the following gene(s): FSH, GNRH1, IGF1, IGFBP1, INS, PRL, SERPINA6, SULT2A1. Breast Neoplasms, Congenital Abnormalities, Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2, Disorders of Sex Development, Hyperplasia, Infertility, Insulin Resistance, Prostatic Neoplasms, Urogenital Abnormalities, Weight Loss are some of the diseases may be linked to SHBG. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Brain, Eye, Intestine, Liver, Testis tissues are correlated with this protein.
