The PRL prl (Catalog #MBS400057) is an Active Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PRL prl product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4506105) (NCBI Accession #NP_000939.1) (Uniprot Accession #P01236). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful. The amino acid sequence is listed below:
The sequence of the first six N-terminal amino acids was determined and was found to be Ala-Thr-Pr o-Val-Cys- Pro.

Our knowledge of the role of proteins in cellular processes is continually evolving. Most proteins, including prolactin are typically involved in one or more signaling pathways or biological processes. Professionally manufactured recombinant proteins are increasingly becoming essential and commonplace tools for elucidating new knowledge about the role of proteins in both health and disease.
Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized oPRL in sterile water or 0.4% NaHCO3 adjusted tp pH 8-9, not less than 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions, preferably in presence of carrier protein.
Protein Content: Protein quantitation was carried out by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 0.85 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution at pH 8.0. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics).
Dimers and Aggregates: The purified oPRL (23K) consists of > 99% monomers as determined by gel-filtration chromatography. Endotoxin: Less than 0.1 ng/ug (IEU/ug) of oPRL
Formulation: The protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1mg/ml) solution with 0.02-0.03% NaHCO3.
Biological Activity: oPRL is fully biologically active as evidenced by inducing proliferation of Nb2 cells. Adenoma, Amenorrhea, Galactorrhea, Growth Hormone-Secreting Pituitary Adenoma, Hyperprolactinemia, Hypogonadism, Infertility, Female, Mental Disorders, Pituitary Neoplasms, Prolactinoma are some of the diseases may be linked to Ovine prolactin. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. PRL also interacts with the following gene(s): BMP1, ESR1, GHR, JAK2, POU1F1, PRLR, STAT3, STAT5A, STAT5B, TRH. Brain, Connective Tissue, Eye, Heart, Muscle, Pituitary Gland, Placenta, Testis, Uncharacterized Tissue, Uterus tissues are correlated with this protein.
