Our knowledge of the role of proteins in cellular processes is continually evolving. Most proteins, including Digoxin are typically involved in one or more signaling pathways or biological processes. Professionally manufactured recombinant proteins are increasingly becoming essential and commonplace tools for elucidating new knowledge about the role of proteins in both health and disease.
Protein Type: Synthetic
Biological Significance: Digoxin (INN), also known as digitalis, is a purified cardiac glycoside extracted from the foxglove plant, Digitalis lanata. Its corresponding aglycone is digoxigenin, and its acetyl derivative is acetyldigoxin. Digoxin is widely used in the treatment of various heart conditions, namely atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and sometimes heart failure that cannot be controlled by other medication.
Bioactivity: 1450 units/ml - One unit of activity is defined as the amount of enzyme causing the hydrolysis of one micromole of p-nitrophenyl phosphate per minute of 25 degree C and pH 9.6. Biohazard Information: This product contains sodium azide as preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling this product.
