The CD56 ncam1 (Catalog #MBS542621) is a Positive Control and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. MyBioSource\'s CD56 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB).Western Blot: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD56 ncam1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The CD56 ncam1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #119587612) (NCBI Accession #EAW67208.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Western Blot Positive Control Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule 1
Extracellular matrix and cell adhesion protein that plays a role in nervous system development and in synaptic plasticity. Both soluble and membranous forms promote neurite outgrowth of cerebellar and hippocampal neurons and suppress neuronal cell death. Plays a role in neuronal positioning of pyramidal neurons and in regulation of both the number of interneurons and the efficacy of GABAergic synapses. May play a role in regulating cell migration in nerve regeneration and cortical development. Potentiates integrin-dependent cell migration towards extracellular matrix proteins. Recruits ANK3 to the plasma membrane (By similarity).
Immunogen: Purified Protein
Expression: Expressed in the fetal and adult brain as well as in Schwann cell culture. Also detected in adult peripheral tissues. Molecular Function: Developmental protein; Cell adhesion; Differentiation; Neurogenesis
Subcellular Location: Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Blood, Bone, Brain, Embryonic Tissue, Eye, Lung, Muscle, Nerve, Skin, Vascular tissues are correlated with this protein. CD56 also interacts with the following gene(s): FYN, ICAM1, IL2, PRNP, PTK2, SPTBN1, SPTBN2, ST8SIA2, ST8SIA4. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Brain Diseases, Congenital Abnormalities, Death, Disease Models, Animal, Inflammation, Liver Diseases, Lung Neoplasms, Necrosis, Neoplasm Invasiveness, Neurobehavioral Manifestations are some of the diseases may be linked to CD56 / NCAM Positive Control.
