The XBP1 xbp1 (Catalog #MBS120080) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Mouse monoclonal antibody Anti-Human XBP1 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s XBP1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Dot Blot (DB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the XBP1 xbp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The XBP1 xbp1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #172072591) (NCBI Accession #NP_005071.2). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Mouse monoclonal antibody Anti-Human XBP1 with the following immunoassay(s):
Quality Control (Western blot analysis of immunized recombinant protein, using anti-XBP1 monoclonal antibody.)
Quality Control #2 (Arrow indicates the region of immunized recombinant protein carrying 50-200 amino acids.)
This gene encodes a transcription factor that regulates MHC class II genes by binding to a promoter element referred to as an X box. This gene product is a bZIP protein and was also identified as a cellular transcription factor that binds to an enhancer in the promoter of the T cell leukemia virus type 1 promoter. It may increase expression of viral proteins by acting as the DNA binding partner of a viral transactivator. It has also been found that the same agents that cause an ER stress response, the unfolded protein response (UPR), also increase transcription of this gene. This increase in transcription requires an ER stress response consensus binding element in the promoter. In the UPR pathway, two isoforms of the protein are made. The function of the shorter isoform (XBP-1U) has not been determined, while the longer isoform (XBP-1S) is the active isoform. The longer isoform is generated by a process in which two adjecent stem loop structures in the mRNA are recognized by IRE1, resulting in the loss of 26 nt from the mRNA and a frameshift in the CDS. Finally, a pseudogene has been identified and localized to chromosome 5. [NCBI Entrez Gene Summary].
Immunogen: Recombiant
Preparation: This antibody was purified using protein G column chromatography from culture supernatant of hybridoma cultured in a medium containing bovine IgG-depleted (approximately 95%) fetal bovine serum. Sterility: Filtered through a 0.22 um membrane.
Disposal: This antibody solution contains sodium azide (NaN3) as a preservative. There is a potential hazard that NaN3 reacts with copper or lead to produce an explosive compound. For safe disposal, the vial has to be washed thoroughly with water.
