|The UCP2 ucp2 (Catalog #MBS535154) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The UCP2 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s UCP2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB).
IF: 2-20 ug/ml
WB: 1-10 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the UCP2 ucp2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The UCP2 ucp2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #3176029) (NCBI Accession #CAA11402.1) (Uniprot Accession #P55851). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Affinity purified Rabbit polyclonal UCP2 antibody.
Biological Significance: Uncoupling proteins (UCP1-5) are a family of mitochondria transport proteins that play a critical role in thermoregulatory heat production and maintenance of basal metabolic rate. UCP3 is predicted to contain 6 transmembrane domains. The UCP3S lacks the 6th transmembrane domain and it is only 275 aa long. Mouse/rat UCP2 is A 309 AA (human 309 aa chromosome 7; ~95% homology) mitochondrial uncoupling protein. UCP2 has wide tissue distribution in mouse tissues (brain, kidney, liver, brown adipose tissue, heart, and muscle). UCP2 may play a critical role in energy balance, body weight, and thermoregulation. Immunogen: UCP2 antibody was raised in rabbit using a 13 amino acid peptide from mouse UCP2 as the immunogen. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing UCP2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as UCP2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Cardiovascular Diseases, Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2, Disease Models, Animal, Fatty Liver, Inflammation, Insulin Resistance, Liver Diseases, Necrosis, Nervous System Diseases, Obesity are some of the diseases may be linked to UCP2 antibody. Adipose Tissue, Blood, Brain, Connective Tissue, Heart, Kidney, Liver, Muscle, Pancreas, Vascular tissues are correlated with this protein. UCP2 also interacts with the following gene(s): FOXA2, GHRL, INS, LEP, NRF1, PPARA, PPARG, SIRT1, UCP1, UCP3.
