The Rab5 n/a (Catalog #MBS612620) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rab5 (Member RAS Oncogene Family, Ras-related Protein Rab-5, Rab GTPase) reacts with Human, Mouse, RatBovine, Dog, Guinea pig, Hamster, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Rab5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Western Blot (WB).
Western Blot (ECL): 1:1000
Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Rab5 n/a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The Rab5 n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #9988838) (Uniprot Accession #P20339). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

The Rab family of GTP-binding proteins are members of the Ras superfamily of small G proteins, and participate in multiple steps of the membrane trafficking. Rab3A participates in the fusion of synaptic vesicles during neurotransmitter release, a process regulated by GDP/GDP exchange cofactors such as GAP, GDI, GRF, and rabphilin. Rab4 regulates recycling of proteins from the early endosome to the surface of many cell types, regulating glucose transporter and transferrin receptor cell surface localization. Rab5 regulates the fusion of plasma membrane-derived clathrin-coated vesicles with early endosomes and homotypic fusion among early endosomes.Rab5 is a 24kD GTP-binding protein that regulates the fusion of plasma membrane-derived clathrin-coated vesicles with early endosomes and homotypic fusion among early endosomes. It is localized to the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane, clathrin-coated vesicles, and early endosomes. Rab5 is believed to regulate vesicle fusion through a cycle of GDP/GTP exchange and GTP hydrolysis. The different guanine nucleotide binding states of Rab5 is postulated to affect its ability to associate or dissociate with membranes during endocytotic membrane traffic. Its GTP-bound form, which represents the active form of Rab5, associates with membrane and regulates vesicle docking and fusion. Studies using Rab5 mutant that hydrolysed xanthosine 5-triphosphate (XTP) indicated that nucleotide hydrolysis occurs even in the absence of membrane fusion. GTP hydrolysis by Rab5 is postulated to determine the frequency of membrane docking and fusion events.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to a portion of human Rab5. The sequence is completely conserved in dog.
