The PLP1 plp1 (Catalog #MBS602473) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Myelin Proteolipid Protein, CT (MPLP) reacts with Human, Mammal and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Myelin Proteolipid Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunocytochemistry (ICC).Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: Western Blot: Can aggregate causing HMW bands to sometimes appear in certain preparations.
Immunocytochemistry: 4% PFA fixed cells for 5-10 minutes at RT. Use 0.1% Triton in block only to allow antibody access to C-terminal epitope.
Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): Fresh frozen sections or 4% PFA fixed, frozen tissues. Epitope is internal, use 0.1-0.2% Triton X-100 in the blocking step for permeabilization.
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): Works best with lightly fixed tissues, or Bouin\'s fixed material, although there are reports of traditional formalin fixation also working with antigen recovery. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLP1 plp1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The PLP1 plp1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #192449447) (NCBI Accession #NP_001122306.1) (Uniprot Accession #P60201). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

This transmembrane proteolipid protein is the predominant myelin protein present in the central nervous system. It may play a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintenance of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms or having different 5\' UTRs, have been identified.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal, CGRGTKF of the Myelin proteolipid protein. Positive Control: Brain. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing PLP1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as PLP1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Congenital Abnormalities, Drug Toxicity, Inflammation, Mental Disorders, Metabolic Diseases, Nervous System Malformations, Pelizaeus-Merzbacher Disease, Peripheral Nervous System Diseases, Schizophrenia, Spastic paraplegia 2, X-linked are some of the diseases may be linked to Myelin Proteolipid Protein, CT (MPLP).
