Mouse monoclonal Parainfluenza type 3 antibody.
Biological Significance: Human parainfluenza viruses (HPIV) were first discovered in the late 1950s. HPIV is genetically and antigenically divided into types 1 to 4. HPIV 1 to HPIV 3 are major causes of lower respiratory infections in infants, young children, the immunocompromised, the chronically ill, and the elderly. Each subtype can cause somewhat unique clinical diseases in different hosts. HPIV are enveloped and of medium size (150 to 250 nm), and their RNA genome is in the negative sense. These viruses belong to the Paramyxoviridae family, one of the largest and most rapidly growing groups of viruses causing significant human and veterinary disease. Cross-Reactivity: This antibody recognizes the hemagluttinin of Parainfluenza virus, type 3 It does not react with Influenza An or B virus, Parainfluenza virus types 1 and 2, Adenovirus or Measles
Immunogen: Parainfluenza type 3 antibody was raised in mouse using hemagluttinin of parainfluenza virus, type 3 as the immunogen. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Parainfluenza type 3 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Parainfluenza type 3 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
