The Myostatin mstn (Catalog #MBS533935) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. MyBioSource\'s Myostatin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB).ELISA: 1:10,000
WB: 1:500-1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Myostatin mstn for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The Myostatin mstn product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4572644) (NCBI Accession #CAB40109.1) (Uniprot Accession #Q9TSY4). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Myostatin antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (Western Blot analysis using Myostatin antibody
Western Blot showing Myostatin antibody used against truncated Myostatin-His recombinant protein (1).)
Mouse monoclonal Myostatin antibody.
Biological Significance: Myostatin is a TGF beta family member that acts as an inhibitor of skeletal muscle growth. This muscle-specific cytokine interacts with Activin type I and type II receptors, and suppresses myoblast proliferation by arresting cell-cycle in the G1 phase. Suppression of myostatin activity facilitates muscle formation and may be useful in reducing and/or preventing adiposity and type-2 diabetes. Myostatin activity can be blocked by the Activin-binding protein Follistatin, and by the propeptide of Myostatin. Cross-Reactivity: Human
Immunogen: Myostatin antibody was raised in Mouse using a purified recombinant fragment of Myostatin expressed in E Coli as the immunogen. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Myostatin are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Myostatin may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Myostatin also interacts with the following gene(s): ACVR1, ACVR2B, DCN, MYL1, MYOD1, TGFBR1, WNT4.
