|The LGALS1 lgals1 (Catalog #MBS175342) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Galectin 1 antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Galectin 1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the LGALS1 lgals1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The LGALS1 lgals1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #126155) (NCBI Accession #P09382.2) (Uniprot Accession #P09382). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Galectin 1(LGALS1) detection. Tested with WB, IHC-P in Human.
Background: Galectin-1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LGALS1 gene. Galectins belong to a family of related beta-galactoside-binding lectins, also referred to as S-type or S-Lac lectins. Its gene is mapped to 22q12-q13. Galectin-1 was expressed in a subset of slowly dividing subventricular zone astrocytes, which included the neural stem cells. It has been considered as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation.
Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of human Galectin 1 (119-135aa NYMAADGDFKIKCVAFD), different from the related rat and mouse sequences by one amino acid. Contents: Each vial contains 5mg BSA, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg Thimerosal, 0.05mg NaN3.
Reconstitution: Add 0.2ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500ug/ml. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing LGALS1 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as LGALS1 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. LGALS1 also interacts with the following gene(s): BEX2, CD7, GEMIN4, MAX, MYC, POU2AF1, PTPRC, TDG.
