The HTR1B htr1b (Catalog #MBS621995) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Serotonin Receptor 1B (5-Hydroxytryptamine (Serotonin) Receptor 1B, 5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 1B, 5-HT-1B, 5-HT-1D-beta, 5-HT1B, 5-HT1B Receptor, 5-HT1DB, HTR1B, HTR1D2, HTR1DB, S12, Serotonin 1D beta Receptor) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Serotonin Receptor 1B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB).Suitable for use in Western Blot. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the HTR1B htr1b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The HTR1B htr1b product has the following accession number(s) (GI #37221615) (Uniprot Accession #P79250). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT), originally discovered as a serum factor plays important roles in regulating diverse biological processes in central and peripheral nervous systems, cardiovascular systems, and gastrointestinal systems (1). Molecular cloning studies have identified 5 receptors belonging to the 5-HT1 subtypes. These receptors are negatively coupled to adenylyl cyclase (2). Radioligand binding studies suggest the presence of 5-HT1B (formerly known as 5-HT1DbR) sites in substantia nigra, dorsal subiculum, globus pallidus, and superior collicum (3,4). The in situ hybridization studies show abundance of 5-HT1BR mRNA in CA1 pyramidal cells of hippocampus, Purkinje cells of cerebellum, olfactory tubercle, subthalamic nucleus and somewhat lower levels in the caudate-putamen, cortical areas, thalamic and hypothalamic nuclei (5).
Immunogen: This antibody was generated by immunizing rabbits with a mixture of synthetic peptides corresponding to amino acids 8-26 and 263-278 of rat 5-HT1BR (Accession number P28564) (6). Positive Control: human, mouse, or rat brain. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing HTR1B are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as HTR1B may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
