Hippostatin, also known as KLK11, is a kallikrein-like serine protease, which has two alternatively spliced isoforms, brain-type and prostate-type. Hippostatin plays a role in the prostate, including reproductive and/or tumorigenic functions. Elevated serum levels of KLK11 were found in 70% of women with ovarian cancer and in 60% of men with prostate cancer. Analysis of the KLK11 biomarker in serum may aid in the identification and monitoring of ovarian and prostatic carcinoma.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to aa residues 68-82 (YIVHLGQHNLQKEEG) of human Hippostatin conjugated to KLH at the C-terminus. Stabilizer: None
Preservatives: None. Available on request.
Dilutions Instructions: Dilute in PBS or medium which is identical to that used in the assay system. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Hippostatin/KLK11 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Hippostatin/KLK11 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
