Mouse monoclonal Heat Stable Enterotoxin Monoclonal antibody.
Biological Significance: Heat-stable enterotoxins (STs) are secretory peptides produced by some bacterial strains, such as enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli which are in general toxic to animals. These peptides keep their 3D structure and remain active at temperatures as high as 100 deg C. Different STs recognize distinct receptors on the surface of animal cells and thereby affect different intracellular signaling pathways. For example, STa enterotoxins bind and activate membrane-bound guanylate cyclase, which leads to the intracellular accumulation of cyclic GMP and downstream effects on several signaling pathways. These events lead to the loss of electrolytes and water from intestinal cells. Biohazard Information: This product contains sodium azide as a preservative. Although the amount of sodium azide is very small appropriate care must be taken when handling.
Immunogen: Heat Stable Enterotoxin antibody was raised in mouse using STp peptide (18 amino acid length) coupled with KLH to the N terminal or C terminal, respectively as the immunogen. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing Heat Stable Enterotoxin are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as Heat Stable Enterotoxin may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
