The GFAP gfap (Catalog #MBS175099) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-GFAP antibody (monoclonal) reacts with Human, Pig, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s GFAP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin.WB: Concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Pig, Rat
IHC-P: Concentration: 0.4-1ug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Pig, Rat; Antigen Retrieval: By Heat
IHC-F: Concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Pig, Rat
Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end user.
Antibody can be supported by chemiluminescence kit MBS176445 in WB, supported by MBS176438 in IHC-P and IHC-F. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GFAP gfap for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The GFAP gfap product has the following accession number(s) (GI #121135) (NCBI Accession #P14136.1) (Uniprot Accession #P14136). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-GFAP antibody (monoclonal) with the following immunoassay(s):
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Anti- GFAP antibody, MBS175099, IHC(P)
IHC(P): Rat Brain Tissue )
Glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) is an intermediate filament protein of 52Kda. GFAP gene is mapped to human 17q21. GFAP is an useful marker of astroglia in the brain. Mutations in GFAP, encoding glial fibrillary acidic protein, are associated with Alexander disease.
Immunogen: GFAP from pig spinal cord. Contents: Mouseascitesfluid,1.2%sodiumacetate,2mgBSA,with0.01mgNaN3aspreservative.
Reconstitution: Add 1ml of PBS buffer will yield a concentration of 100ug/ml. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing GFAP are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as GFAP may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Blood, Bone Marrow, Brain, Connective Tissue, Eye, Ganglia, Liver, Muscle, Nerve, Spinal Cord tissues are correlated with this protein. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Brain Diseases, Brain Injuries, Cardiovascular Diseases, Epilepsy, Gliosis, Inflammation, Necrosis, Nerve Degeneration, Nervous System Diseases, Pain are some of the diseases may be linked to Anti-GFAP antibody (monoclonal).
