The GABBR2 gabbr2 (Catalog #MBS502057) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Phospho-Ser783 GABAB R2 reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s GABAB Receptor (Ser783), R2-Subunit can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF).Quality Control: Western blots performed on each lot.
WB: 1:1000
IF: 1:500 (Kuramoto et al., 2007). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GABBR2 gabbr2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The GABBR2 gabbr2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #13929138) (NCBI Accession #NP_113990.1) (Uniprot Accession #O88871). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-Phospho-Ser783 GABAB R2 with the following immunoassay(s):
Testing Data
Affinity purified rabbit polyclonal antibody.
Antigen: Phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Ser783 of GABAB R2.
Immunogen Information: Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser783 conjugated to KLH
Immunogen Species: Rat. Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology: Bovine, canine, chicken, human, mouse, non-human primates
Species Reactivity Note: The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in Western blots with rat tissue. It is anticipated that the antibody will react with mouse, human, non-human primate, chicken, bovine and Xenopus tissues based on the fact that these species have 100% homology with the amino acid sequence used as antigen.
Biological Significance: Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. There are two major classes of GABA receptors: the GABAA and the GABAB subtype of receptors. GABAB receptors are heterodimeric G protein-coupled receptors that mediate slow synaptic inhibition in the central nervous system. It has recently been demonstrated that AMPK binds directly to GABAB receptors and phosphorylates S783 in the cytoplasmic tail of the R2 subunit and that S783 plays a critical role in enhancing neuronal survival after ischemia as phosphorylation of S783 is evident in many brain regions and is increased dramatically after ischemic injury to the brain (Kuramoto et al., 2007). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing GABBR2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as GABBR2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
