The F2 f2 (Catalog #MBS176152) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Prothrombin antibody reacts with Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Prothrombin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the F2 f2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The F2 f2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #135809) (NCBI Accession #P18292.1) (Uniprot Accession #P18292). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-Prothrombin antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Anti- F2 antibody, MBS176152, Western blotting
All lanes: Anti F2 (MBS176152) at 0.5ug/ml
WB : Rat Testis Tissue Lysate at 50ug
Predicted bind size: 70KD
Observed bind size: 100KD )
Description: Rabbit IgG polyclonal antibody for Prothrombin(F2) detection. Tested with WB in Rat.
Background: F2(Coagulation Factor II), also known as thrombin, is a serine protease that in humans is encoded by the F2 gene. Royle et al.(1987) assigned the gene for human prothrombin(F2) to chromosome 11p11-q12 by analysis of a panel of somatic cell hybrid DNAs and by in situ hybridization, using both cDNA and genomic probes. The activated thrombin enzyme plays an important role in hemostasis and thrombosis: it converts fibrinogen to fibrin for blood clot formation, stimulates platelet aggregation, and activates coagulation factors V, VIII(F8), and XIII(F13A1). Thrombin also inhibits coagulation by activating protein C.
Immunogen: A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of rat Prothrombin (600-612aa THVFRLKRWMQKV). Contents: Each vial contains 5mg BSA, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg Thimerosal, 0.05mg NaN3.
Reconstitution: Add 0.2ml of distilled water will yield a concentration of 500ug/ml. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing F2 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as F2 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Embryonic Tissue, Kidney, Liver, Placenta, Uncharacterized Tissue tissues are correlated with this protein.
