The CD81 cd81 (Catalog #MBS151030) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The CD81 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s CD81 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF).
CD81 antibody can be used for detection of CD81 by Western blot at 1 mug/mL. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CD81 cd81 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.

The CD81 cd81 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #4757944) (NCBI Accession #NP_004347) (Uniprot Accession #P60033). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the CD81 Antibody with the following immunoassay(s):
Western Blot (WB) (Western blot analysis of CD81 in human lung tissue lysate with CD81 antibody at 1 μg/mL in (A) the absence and (B) the presence of blocking petide.)
Western Blot (WB) CD81.

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) (Immunohistochemistry of CD81 in human lung tissue with CD81 antibody at 5 μg/mL.)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) CD81.

Immunofluorescence (IF) (Immunofluorescence of CD81 in A549 cells with CD81 antibody at 20 μg/mL.)
Immunofluorescence (IF) CD81.

CD81 Antibody: CD81 is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily, also known as the tetraspanin family, a group of cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains and mediate signal transduction events that play a role in the regulation of cell development, activation, growth and motility. CD81 is a cell surface glycoprotein that associates with integrins and appears to promote muscle cell fusion and support myotube maintenance. Along with SCARB1, LDL-R, and CLDN1, CD81 has been reported to be an entry factor for the Hepatitis C virus. Finally, recent evidence indicates that the CD81 gene is localized in a tumor-suppressor gene region and is thus a candidate gene for malignancies.

Conjugate: Unconjugated
Immunogen: CD81 antibody was raised against a 20 amino acid synthetic peptide near the amino terminus of human CD81. The immunogen is located within amino acids 30-80 of CD81 (extracellular region).
Buffer: CD81 Antibody is supplied in PBS containing 0.02% sodium azide. In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing CD81 are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as CD81 may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
