The CALCA calca (Catalog #MBS500026) is an Antibody produced from Mouse and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) reacts with Human, rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunocytochemistry (ICC).Quality Control: ICC performed on each lot.
WB: not recommended
ICC: 1:50-1:100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CALCA calca for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The CALCA calca product has the following accession number(s) (GI #76880482) (NCBI Accession #NP_001029127.1) (Uniprot Accession #P01256). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the Anti-Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP) with the following immunoassay(s):
Testing Data
Mouse monoclonal antibody.
Antigen: Rat alpha-CGRP
Immunogen Information: Purified rat alpha-CGRP
Immunogen Species: Rat. Reactivity Assumed Based on 100% Sequence Homology: Most mammals
Species Reactivity Note: The antibody has been directly tested for reactivity in rat and human. Other species have not yet been tested. It is expected that the antibody will react with most mammals.
Biological Significance: Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide [CGRP] is a 37 amino acid peptide and is the most potent endogenous vasodilator currently known (Brain et al.,1985). CGRP is primarily produced in nervous tissue, however, its receptors are expressed throughout the body. CGRP is also strongly implicated in the vasodilatory effect of endogenous cannabinoid anandamide in the brain. This effect was found to be antagonized by capsazepine. CGRP is also currently a major target of research in regards to factors effecting the onset of migraine headaches (Edvinsson L., 2003). CGRP antibodies have been used successfully in immunoneutralization (Wong et al., 1993). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing CALCA are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as CALCA may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. Edema, Headache, Hypertension, Inflammation, Kidney Diseases, Migraine Disorders, Necrosis, Neurogenic Inflammation, Pain, Wounds and Injuries are some of the diseases may be linked to Anti-Calcitonin Gene Related Peptide (CGRP).
