The BHMT bhmt (Catalog #MBS619297) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The BHMT (Betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase, BHMT) reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. MyBioSource\'s BHMT can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC).Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Dilution: Peptide ELISA: 1:16,000
Western Blot: 0.03-0.1ug/ml ~45kDa band observed in Human Liver, Mouse Liver and Rat Liver lysates (calculated MW of 44.9kDa according to human NP_001704.1, 45.0kDa according to mouse NP_057877.1 and rat NP_110477.1). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing BHMT a band of approx. 49kDa is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293.
Immunohistochemistry: 2-4ug/ml In paraffin embedded Human Kidney shows strong cytoplasm staining in PCT cells.
Other dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BHMT bhmt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The BHMT bhmt product has the following accession number(s) (GI #157266337) (NCBI Accession #NP_001704.2) (Uniprot Accession #Q93088). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Please refer to the product datasheet for known applications of a given antibody. We\'ve tested the BHMT (Betaine-homocysteine methyltransferase, BHMT) with the following immunoassay(s):
Chemiluminescence (MBS619297(0.03ug/ml) staining of Rat Liver lysate (35ug protein in RIPA buffer). Primary incubation was 1 hour. Detected by chemiluminescence.)
Testing Data (HEK293 overexpressing BHMT and probed with MBS619297 (mock transfection in first lane), tested by Origene.)
e encodes a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of betaine and homocysteine to dimethylglycine and methionine, respectively. Defects in this gene could lead to hyperhomocyst(e)inemia, but such a defect has not yet been observed.
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to C-EQQLKELFEKQK, from the C Terminus of human BHMT (NP_001704.1). In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing BHMT are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as BHMT may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results.
