Positive WB detected in : Human blood tissue, HepG2 cells, human brain tissue, human serum tissue
Positive IP detected in: HepG2 cells Positive IHC detected in: Human hepatocirrhosis tissue, human ovary tissue, human stomach tissue. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the A2M a2m for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The A2M a2m product has the following accession number(s) (GI #66932947) (NCBI Accession #NP_000005.2). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Is able to inhibit all four classes of proteinases by an unique \'trapping\' mechanism. This protein has a peptide stretch, called the \'bait region\' which contains specific cleavage sites for different proteinases. When a proteinase cleaves the bait region, a conformational change is induced in the protein which traps the proteinase. The entrapped enzyme remains active against low molecular weight substrates (activity against high molecular weight substrates is greatly reduced). Following cleavage in the bait region a thioester bond is hydrolyzed and mediates the covalent binding of the protein to the proteinase. .

In general, we may offer more than one antibody to a given target to enable options for the researcher. Available antibodies recognizing A2M are readily searchable from our website. Different antibodies against the same target such as A2M may be optimized or tested for different applications and species. This enables researchers to select the option that may be best for their model system, to screen more than antibody to determine which one may be best for their model system, as well as to use more than one antibody to follow up on and validate their results. A2M also interacts with the following gene(s): ALB, APOA1, APP, LRP1, PLG, SERPINA1, TGFB1. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene.
